KNEC Circular for Assessment of Grades 7 and 8 Commencing in Term 2, 2024.

A circular with the reference KNEC/GEN/TD/CIR/CBA/2024/002 was released by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) on March 6, 2024, regarding the assessment of grades 7 and 8 beginning in the second term of 2024.

This circular is intended for all countrywide Heads of Prevocational Level Schools, Heads of Junior Schools, and Sub County Directors of Education.

The following is stated in the circular tagged RE: ADMINISTRATION OF THE YEAR 2024 GRADES 7 AND 8 AND PREVOCATIONAL LEVEL SCHOOL BASED ASSESSMENT;

The School Based Assessment tools for Grades 7 and 8 (which is an Age Based Pathway) and Prevocational Level (which is a Stage Based Pathway) are anticipated to be uploaded by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) on the KNEC CBA site.

that school head teachers must go into the CBA portal at https://cba.knec.ac.ke in order to access the assessment portal.

If a school is experiencing password difficulties, they should get in touch with the relevant Sub-County Director of Education to reset the password.

The circular also states that within the allotted period, all schools must conduct the assessment instruments, provide correct scores, and upload the identical assessment results of every student to the CBA site.

KNEC has mandated that the SBA instruments for the assessment of Grades 7 and 8 be made available in two formats: a digital version via the CBA portal, https://cba.knec.ac.ke, and a PDF version.

In the PDF Format

It will be mandatory for all schools to accomplish this by utilizing their login credentials. (The password and username are those).

Every school will have access to and be able to download the tools in PDF format.

Following that, students will receive KNEC SBA tools in print format, as well as by projection on a screen or alternate writing on the board.

The students can write their answers on the question paper or on the school-provided writing materials, depending on the format that is most convenient for them.
