University students are required to pay the following fees Every semester.

Today, on November 20, 2023, the Kenyan government disclosed the semester fees for university students. Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Education,

Mr. Ezekiel Machogu, announced that students from low-income families will only be responsible for five percent of the semester fees.

Specifically, university students in this category will contribute Ksh10,000 towards tuition, while the remaining Ksh200,000 will be covered by the state.

Conversely, students hailing from well-off families attending Kenyan universities will need to pay forty percent of their total semester fees.

For instance, if the semester fees amount to Ksh200,000, students from wealthier backgrounds will bear Ksh80,000 of the fees, shedding light on the actual implications of the 40 percent fees.

The government’s stance on the cost of attending university has raised questions about its fairness and implications. Share your thoughts, ideas, and feelings about the government’s remarks on university expenses in the comments section.
